Ten Financial Planning was asked to attend a meeting at a firm of solicitors in Burnley to discuss Inheritance Tax (IHT) with one of their clients.
We were not the only financial planners meeting David and Carol that day, so we were delighted to be invited back to advise them.
Following a series of meetings, we prepared a financial plan which included immediate potential IHT savings, with more to come in future years.
We now meet every six months to review their plans and to confirm their IHT efficiency, as well as ensuring that their underlying investments continue to meet their attitude to risk and financial planning needs.
Legislative changes can have a big impact on many aspects of financial planning, estate planning and IHT, so the regular meetings are essential.
These meetings allow David and Carol to update us on their health, lifestyle and family situation, which are all essential factors we need to take into account to make sure their plan is still working for them. They also fill us in on their travels across the country with their luxury caravan and doting dogs!
The fact that we can help them pass more of their hard-earned wealth to their children and grandchildren is another part of the job that gives us a lot of satisfaction.
